It's going to be a tight-packed September...
Thank God, I have already had a fun week in Jakarta *although I definitely will not mind another few more haha

So...tomorrow I am off to Amsterdam. Followed by a stand-by from 00.00 till 12noon. Straight away Taipei nightstop (yeay yeay....) and then Abu Dhabi-Jeddah.. before I will have my day-off *phew.

So, give me strength and show me your love... we'll get through this ok!

here I come India...

2 bottles of mineral water 1.5 lt
3 bottles of water 500ml
2 cup noodles
2 packs of biscuits
2 packets of potato chips
1 packet of cream soup
1 tin of baked beans
1 bar of choco
4 movies and a series of Korean drama
1 chick-lit by Sophie Kinsela

I think I am ready for my 6-day Amritsar, India (another country to add to the list).

I have no idea where to go except for Golden Temple and the border of India and Pakistan. But I will be staying there for 4 nights and I will have 3.5 clear days to enjoy. What else should I do... or go? Owh.. and the fact that Aug 15 is India's National Day, am not so sure if we're even allowed to go out on this day.

ugh huhuhu

Just came back from Manchester again. Nothing much this time round, just spent our time browsing the shops and checking their sales ^^.

Tried the so-called delicious fish and chips at The Banks... not bad, although the fish still had a slight fishy taste. I was the only one who finished though -__-''

I am just tired tired and tired. The flight back was crazy (as expected for morning flights) where the call-buttons were almost non-stop and there were many kids and elderly on board. Part and parcel of the job.

and tomorrow... I have to work too. No day-off, coz I gave away another flight which eats into this manchester. Dang... I am exhausted!!!

Can't wait for my leave to come.... I'll be home then :)

the rich who isn't that 'rich'

This post from Ms.Ste inspire me to write on this incident.

Stewardess #1: Mam, please put your bag under the seat in front of you or on the overheard compartment
Mam #1: *nod nod, pretending to be busy with her immigration card* Yea, I understand

Mam #1 and family were trying to 'buy' time and thought the stewardess wouldn't come back and check.

Stewardess #2: Mam, you have to put your bag under the seat in front of you for take-off and landing.
Mam #1 #2: *opened the K***world magazines, threw them on the floor and put their Prada bags on top*

Muahaha...talk about how 'rich' people behave.
Adding on, some even refuse to stow their expensive cabin bags on the overhead compartment together with the 'quoted: cheap bags'.

Gosh... the stewardess who carry those LV cabin bags don't even care if they put it in the closet whatsoever...haha apparently the 'rich' ladies aren't that 'rich' huh!

you think you've known all these?

Now, let me put this scenario into a flight to Bangkok. In around 2 hours you have to do so so so many things.

On-ground duties:


Boarding:


Before take-off:


and so on.... (anyway the *etc was put in every duties as things can happen anytime... and many passengers just do not seem to take this into consideration)


Now... let me tell you some stories about cabin check for safety and security.


A pregnant lady was upset when I tried to collect her headset during our preparation for landing.
Why do you have to collect the headset?
Mam, it is for safety reason that I have to collect all headsets
Safety reason...safety reason... what safety reason?
Mam, in case of emergency or evacuation, you may trip over your headset wire or it may fly around and hurt yourself or other passenger... (before I even finished, she was already annoyed and pissed thinking that I was trying to make her 'lose face'. The westerners behind her were surprised and looked in disbelief *muahaha.I did not even mention that she may miss the 'evacuation command' if she's wearing her headsets)
(shouting) You know what.... JUST TAKE IT!
So I took it and continued collecting my headsets.

An educated, trendy lady sat on the very first row where there are no storage in front of them (usually they can put small bags under the seat in front of them). I politely asked to assist her to stow her bag on the overhead compartment. However, during our preparation for landing, the bag was back on her lap.
Mam, let me help you to stow your bag on the overhead compartment.
Why do I have to put it there?
Mam, for safety reason your bag has to be stowed on top *refering to the fact that she does not have any sufficient storagen space in front of her.
What safety reason?
In case of depressurisation (means the aircraft just 'falls' down to a certain level) or emergency, your bag won't fly all over *and may injure herself or other pax (I did not even mention the fact that she won't be able to do her 'bracing' position during emergency)....
I don't think so!

Well...in these cases, I have to refrain myself from 'challenging' the passengers to avoid further matters. If only I work at other companies, maybe I can easily reply: "Oh yeah, let's see if you can be a heroine and hold your bag tightly still during emergency," or "I don't give a damn on your own safety or life, but the other passengers may not necessarily agree on you risking theirs too." - evil laugh....muahahahhaa

You see... We, the crew, are not doing all the so-called safety measures just for the sake of being seen doing something about it. They serve a purpose, whether you like or not, whether you ever think about it or not. It is not like we have a thousand years on our hands to do all our duties. We are on constant battle with time and doing this safety check really means a lot to us.

The next time you're on board, think again on why you have to switch off your electrical devices, put your sit up-right, stow your tray table, put your foot rest up, fasten your seat belt, put your window shades up and stow your bag properly under the seat in front of you!!

Have you found the answers???

Nevertheless, stop being a pain in the a** passenger... I am just trying to help.

Sorry peeps... sometimes it is just so frustrating :(
especially when the passengers really show me some attitude or faces
I am a human too!

taipei n rome...here i come

Frankly speaking, I ONLY have 2 flights that I am looking forward to this month (ehm..okay, make it 3 with my Jakarta night-stop where I got to meet my parents & bro for a few hours). The rest is mainly turn-around flights *and I mean it when I said MAINLY* and one Australia station - Sydney - :

  1. Taipei *again* on 15-15th Feb
    Hey peeps...see you there ok. I am excited to meet my ol' @ friends there. We haven't meet for over a year or two. It's gonna be so much fun wandering around with the locals :)
  2. 2. Rome on 19-23rd Feb *I am back Rome!
    - So.... am trying to SOS Uncle Google for his assistance now. Heaven's sake...anyone's help is welcomed!!
    - Any recommendation aside from the usual St.Peter, Colosseum, Trevi fountain and so on.
    - Hm...is EUR 100 enough for 3 days?? argh...I can hear the spell: broke broke broke
    - What type of transportation is best for a tourist like me?? *grin..haha

And also... the cute First Officer that I met during my training flight.... what a coincidence *heee...

But that's it. Nothing more.

how was today?

I was called-up to do a turnaround flight to Denpasar. It was ok. The first SIN-DPS was much smoother and better than the second one. Some of the people *ehm ehm...I mean those who was seated throughout the whole journey* really tested my patience.

I am sorry Sir but I am not deaf. You did not have to shout at me.
I am sorry Mam for not having your main course selection. But you did not have to show me your 'attitude', simply because I can't find any 'beef' on board NO MATTER WHAT.

Cheers to pain legs.... and tired body and soul.

Off again to Saigon tomorrow.

Awh...I met the same family who took our flight from HK-SIN on my first solo flight. It was a nice coincidence. He still remembers me too *hahaha.... happy happy.

3 indo girls...

Introducing the 3 Indonesians girl from our dearest batch

1. Heny

Well... her name is a mere one word, with one 'N" and not two. Used to study in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and my sis' ex classmate *what a small world huh?*. She comes from Jambi, Sumatera. Don't get it wrong, she likes dolling up and making people look beautiful. Thus her interest in fashion and make-up.

Sadly, she had to have her hair cut short when she joined the batch. She used to have golden coloured hair and hair that fell to her back. But it's OK Heny...you look more elegant this way.

Nickname in class: Miss Kerbau ^^
Fave stall in the canteen: Fruit stall *I think*. You can see her with her juice almost for every breaks..ck..ck..ck.. so healthy!

2. Diana a.k.a Ddee

Moody, stubborn and a total Cancerian.

Fave stall in the canteen: Malay food. But lately kinda like the Chicken Rice stall too *slurp..

3. Yanna

A woman who doesn't look her age. She is also known for her childish acts and horny jokes. She looks really beutiful when she lets her hair falls, and NOT when she buns them up *hahaha blame it to the requirements. A gossip-sharing friend, shopping friend, food-searching friend, etc... she is always ready for happening moments. The smallest among the three of us but the cute thing is... she gained 3 kgs in Spore... but she is still small anyway.

Nickname in the class: Princess Ali Baba ^^
Fave stall in the canteen: Malay food and Western food.

Yah..that's all. I am off to a Deepavali celebration at a batchmate's house.

dee-lighted

Aiyaya... my Panda eyes are getting more visible these days.
Bozhe bozhe preventive measures need to be taken before it gets worse.

Let me tell you about my freaking fun Saturday!

It was supposed to be a day where I can sleep and wake up late in the morning, lie down on my bed while dreaming about the beautiful things in life or simply watch movies from my notebook. But NO!! That Saturday we were asked to return to the training centre to attend our announcement class. If you're wondering what that is... try to recall those announcements on board in languages other than English.

Got it??
Yeah... foreigners are trained to deliver those announcement :)

So, the next time you take the-world-well-known-airlines-for-its-service to Jakarta, Denpasar or Surabaya, try to guess if it's my voice you're listening to!! wahahaha

Anyway, the class was kinda cool for a Saturday morning. With only gorgeous Indonesian girls *I'm complimenting the others lorr....* in the language lab, it was a rare occasion where we can chat happily in our own national language. I used to think it's pretty easy to do an announcement, but I was proven wrong. We have to know the sequence, we have to be alert in our translation, we have to be careful on our intonation, speed, articulation, etc to ensure we deliver the message in the most effective way (to sound confident, firm yet not too authoritative). Love it to the max....coz it reminded me of my hi-skul time... speeches, presenters, etc.
Man...can I be a news anchor one day?

So the grading passed succesfully *yeay yeay...I am recommended to do announcement! yippiee...

At around 2.30pm, we're set to go. I checked my mobile coz we're going to have a BBQ in the evening. 3 missed-calls and 1 SMS. Owkay...I clicked on the left button. Oh my... I was stunned, did I look at the right thing, did I read it wrongly, did I press any buttons? There appeared my best Ukrainian friend's name. I rub my eyes...it's still there. I was in a state of confusion when I asked my friends to check again. Oh my...

It's true...he did call. I SMSed to ask...and my ringtone was never as melodious as this one. Geez... thanks for the call *cloud nine cloud nine. It really made my day :) I talked to my big bro in Dnepropetrovsk too, Richard from Colombia. It's around 5C now... I could hear the trembles in their voice.

I MISS YOU guys so much!!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed ok...hopefully I could visit you again next year ^^

More exams to come

Congratulations!!

"All of you passed your exams :) "

Yeay..yeay...4 papers were finally over and done.
Well, some batchmates had to retake some of the papers, but thank God... I passed :)

However, it seemed that our celebration only lasted during the weekend. Why, you asked?
Coz next Monday we will have another exam for another course.

Whattt? In a week you have 5 papers?
Yeah babe...

What else?
Hm....let's see. We finished the 15-cm long notes in 4 weeks time before we had our exams. Then, after Paper 4, we collected 2 more new sets of materials in two separate folders.
So what?
And today... again, we received another 7-cm notes *ha...ha....ha.... headache snutt snutt snutt...

Now we pronunce that it ain't easy job for sure.

How did we celebrate then?
The class decided to go to the clubs as we get free entrance *wahaha....* and discounts too.

However, I joined them later on around midnight. I went to AIESEC Mentorship Night at Harry's Bar. I can't describe how much FUN I had. I laughed alot, talked alot, teased alot *Sharon, I wasn't high. I was overjoyed!

It was a really great feeling to meet my @ friends and newbies, although I wasn't even familiar with alot of them. I miss AIESEC dearly.... I miss having such a great time with ol' friends and even if I don't know them, we seem to know each other before. Miss you guys so much.

At almost 12pm, I reached Zouk - Velvet with some @ers. When I arrived, Mawar has already drunk *pretty cute heh. The music sucks to the max... retro?? big no no. Hip hop? yeah..cool, but I could hardly breathe -___-''

Around 2pm we decided to migrate to Clarke Quay. Ow...we met plenty colleagues at Zouk though. At Clarke Quay, some of us merely wanted to hang out, have some drinks and chat. But but but.... due to certain circumstances, we had to enter Ministry of Sound (MoS).

Dang...I expect something HUGE and AWESOME, y'know. Trance music seriously hurt my brain. I fell down to the floor, being kicked around to the corner while I screamed in pain... *hahah jk jk. Nah...seriously it's NOT my cup of tea as well. Yet, the show must go on. There we were, a bunch of creative people, choreographing silly dances and laughing our lungs out.

Not bad....I burn some calories *muahahaha.

Ow.... I'm gonna have my training flight to Sydney and Tokyo. Nice.... too bad it's only a 1-nite stay *sigh...

love is all around...

Today was my very first time visiting a nursing home.

After a super quick breakfast of Mie Rebus at the canteen, Yanna and I rushed back to the class and found our trainer for the day was there. He was the first trainer who approached us and shoke our hands *and yeah...we were slightly late huhu and so I missed singing the company song haha*. A good day to start.


After his brief introduction to our programme of the day, we found out that preparing only ONE song was simply insufficient. So how? Some friends insisted on having the Indo girls sing a song or two *coz last nite we're having dinner together and on our way home...Yanna and I sang our heart out for some Indo songs*. No probliem!!! For community service, singing a song won't kill us.


On our way to the home at Woodlands, we hopped onto the last row. Merrily throughout the journey, we sang lotsa songs....dancing....playing....fooling around. Seriously, I feel like my crazy childish self is resurrected *wahaha. It was freakingly FUN FUN FUN and NOISY. The rest of the class was pretty entertained by our hilarious actions I suppose.


Furthermore, the day was even greater when we arrived there and met the people. They were so happy to see us and so did we all. Smiles were all over. I love it! Joko and Oneng started by singing 'Wu Ding' from Jay Chou and Wen Lan. One grandma was overtly-excited that she just stood up and held Joko's hand while he sang. Such a touching moment!! Some girls were unable to control our tear-bag.... *trink trink crystal eyes...


Later we continued with 'More Than Words', followed by 'Potong Bebek Angsa' (a children song from Indonesia). We only practised this song for 5 mins in the class after the briefing and we came up with the dance movements too. Certainly I could sense that the residents enjoyed the performance. However, that's not the end... our China friends presented a song 'Ming Tian Hui Gen Hao' (tomorrow is gonna be better)... sweet.


And so we thought we're over with our songs... when suddenly one of the grandma requested "Burung Kakak Tua". Spontaneously the three of us sang the song happily. Trek dung...trek dung...


We assisted them to the canteen, fed them, talked to them.... And I am grateful LOT. I am grateful I was given such an opportunity in life, I am grateful I was able to make their day in any way possible, I am grateful I could have such a wonderful day, .... and I am grateful I was able to converse in English, Malay, Chinese and Hokkian *coz this is seriously crucial as many of the elderly speaks dialect. Gosh... I am so glad to know these languages.





I never imagine I could make someone's day so much more beautiful while I myself enjoy it so much, and I don't have to fork out alot of extra resources. I still vividly remember when a grandma held my hand tightly and talked to me in Hokkian, thanking us for coming and making her day; when a quiet man who seemed a lil unwelcoming asked me to trace his palm and wrote my name there; when a young Malay man was so happy when I talked to him in Malay; when a woman kept reminding me to get her an apple; when I looked at those grandmas in the eyes... smiled.... and said in Hokkian: 'Come...let's eat for health'.... and she opened her mouth in reply.


Gosh....I really had a GREAT AWESOME moment and I learn from it too ^.*


And to add it on, my trainer told me: "You've very inquisitive. I like it."


The man who brought us around at the home commented, "You're from Indonesia? I really like your energy and enthusiasm. Thank you."


when I earnestly think.... I am the one who should be thankful.


So, why wait? Do your share!!


I bet it's gonna be a fulfilling experience.


The good news is.... WE ARE ALL GONNA GROW OLD too :)

The day continued with a talk about Japan and its culture. What a kawaii trainer :) She's soooo cute and she looks really young *envy envy.

At 5.15pm, we had another session on Friends In Need to help us on our journey to become a real sky-fighter *hehe. Enjoyed the session as we played games. C'mon...when else can we run, jump and shout at our training centre??? NEVER!!

Our day ended at 6.45pm... tired and hungry, Yanna and I went for a dinner at Geylang. Love the fried rice....love the ice-cream dino!!

Only one word: HEAVEN!

diversity is wonderful

What make my training sessions much more enjoyable and FUN?

Let's see... aside from crazee bunch of 'quiet' mates, silly jokes and gossips *haha*, interactive sessions and interesting trainers...

We also have lotsa role-plays. And I gotta say we have plentiful talented actors and actresses in the class, not to forget a couple of clowns.

It is much easier to relate and understand through demonstration of the points. From non-verbal communication (gestures, eye contact, body language, etc) to handling some passengers, we've been there and done that.

We've had Joko and Siti *names have been changed to protect their privacy*, a newly-wed couple, discussing about their honeymoon. Calling each other "Honey arr..." while showing us their pictures *hohohoho.... and you should see the natural blushers on the guy's cheeks*.

Another fresh wife, Ijah, went on to exclaim, "This is the best honeymoon I have ever had," when asked by Roma, her husband about their honeymoon. The class bursted out laughing... HAVE EVER HAD??
The scene was then followed by a fight among two women on board out of jealousy, when Inul, the woman next to them started to 'talk' to Roma. Hilarious....

Have you ever heard a comment made by an air-steward, "Yes Mam, I am sure you have wonderful thighs." Or maybe by an air-stewardess, "Don't forget to call me if you need. Just press the 'right' button ok," while her fingers pressed onto the male passenger's thigh *wahahaha. Just can't believe how creative we are!

Besides that, I've been using my Chinese again. At least I am trying to improve my deteriorated Chinese. Now, we have 7 Chinese girls (3 transferred to our batch) so I shall utilize this opportunity.

Of course, we do teach some Indonesian words too.

....

Joko learned anjing, goblok (meaning: dog, stupid) *geezz...* while Tono can't pronunce monyet (read: mo-nyet, meaning monkey) but mo-nyieekkk.

Wahahaa....what a colourful class!

exam is coming

EXAMS in 2 weeks time.... exactly 2 weeks time....

and I thought I despise exams, and I won't have anymore of them.

Start studying this weekend coz the passing grade is 80%, and we are not allowed to fail 2x (hm...two times throughout the whole course, NOT just this one).

Ganbatte ne!!


Yesterday we had our Beverages - Alcohol class. So, the first half of the day was superbly boring and dry. I admitted I almost fell asleep in class... geez

But after lunch, guess what? We went up to the mock-up and tested the alcohol. We even mixed some cocktails *yeah yeah*. I can fix my own Bloody Mary now... *huek huek...I don't like it*. Drank a lil... but I still prefer the Orange Juice haha...

I love my batchmates

And so they say our batch is really 'quiet and discipline' compare to others...

Some trainers felt 'stressed' and tensed in our class because of that. They did not know what to say or were afraid of saying the wrong thing. They couldn't really figure out whether we really understand the subject or just too shy to ask.

But NOOO... we're seriously a bunch of sweet and fun-loving people. It's just that we ARE NOT loud and crazy enough...compare to other batches *maybe*

Hm... training has been a lil boring these few days. Maybe coz it's near the end of the week and our energy level needs to be re-charged. Maybe coz the content itself is not interesting and thus we don't really enjoy the trainers' class. Maybe coz we've known some of the things that we lose interest in them. Maybe coz we don't feel well, too. Maybe...

For sure... I feel a slight 'burn' on my face-skin. It's reddish, itchy and uncomfortable *hate this for sure*. My cheeks were so red today and I had to force myself not to scratch *uhukkkk...

What is happening to me??

ARGHHHHH.....

Oww... we're going for a class outing this Sunday to Sentosa. Hope I feel well enough to join them. Tired? Sure... but it's a whole class gathering, how can I miss it??

Another thing is I am gonna be the MC for the other batches' graduation ceremony next Tuesday *hey Jo, I am gonna be your MC haha*. I don't know whether the class 'sabo' me or coz they think I can do it *anyway...just be positive haha so must be coz I am pretty good heh...lol* When Yanna, Heny and I returned from the German Embassy (we're late then), I was informed that the class picked me as the MC. Hm... I am gonna be hosting in front of the big boss, guests, my batch mates, etc.

Whatever it is... I AM GONNA DO MY BEST!! Bring pride to the class and good feeling of myself haha *it's in the blood...I toldja before.
